Inspired by Gretchen Rubin’s (author of The Happiness Project) commandment to be “Be Gretchen,” this blog documents my journey as I discover what it means to “Be Sherilyn”, to know and be true to myself. Blog tagline is inspired by Henry James’ “It’s time to live the life you’ve imagined.”
More recently, I came across Kurt Vonnegut’s advice to high school students. In his letter (which is worth reading in its entirety) he counselled,
What I had to say to you, moreover, would not take long, to wit: Practice any art, music, singing, dancing, acting, drawing, painting, sculpting, poetry, fiction, essays, reportage, no matter how well or badly, not to get money and fame, but to experience becoming, to find out what’s inside you, to make your soul grow.
